“Dad, what does God look like?”
This question is raised in a
story about a girl who loved to draw.
One day a young girl took out her crayons and paper and went to her room
to draw. Her Dad looked into her room to
check on her. “What are you drawing
today?” he asked her. “Dad, I am drawing a picture of God.” Dad replied, “Well,
no one really knows what God looks like,” he replied with a little
chuckle. “Well, they’ll know when I get
through with my drawing!”
At Easter we celebrate the
resurrection of Jesus. The risen Jesus looked
different- he was changed or transformed in his resurrection. Hardly anyone
recognized Jesus. Mary Magdalene at the
tomb didn’t know it was Jesus until he spoke. The disciples on the road to
Emmaus didn’t know until the breaking of bread that night. The disciples on the shore after a night of
fishing did not know it was Jesus until he spoke to them.
What is your picture of
Jesus? Can you see him with the eyes of
faith? The great news for us is that God
raised Jesus from the dead to show us his tremendous love and gives us his eternal
grace!
Peace!
